With internet access

The quickest way to set up the Pozyx system is by connecting the gateway to the internet. If this is not possible, please skip to the Without internet access section below.

  1. Plug in the 12V power adapter of the gateway and turn the gateway on.
  2. Connect the gateway to the internet by plugging in an ethernet cable in the uplink network port (labeled LAN1 or UPLINK).
  3. Go to the Pozyx web application: https://app.pozyx.io
  4. Sign up or log in to an existing account.
  5. Click on Add new setup.
  6. Choose Enterprise.
  7. Choose a name and enter the gateway ID. This can be found on the label on the gateway.
  8. Click on Add setup.
  9. You are now logged in. Continue with the setup by following the instructions in the anchor setup section.

If the setup application indicates that it cannot find the gateway, then probably the gateway didn't connect properly to the internet. Please follow the instructions in the Without internet access section below to fix this.

Without internet access

If you are having trouble with the internet access, or you want to do a full offline setup, you can follow these detailed instructions.
Again, we start by installing the gateway. The gateway has two independent network interfaces: the uplink network and the anchor network.

  • The uplink network is used to connect the gateway to your home or company network. On the gateway this is the physical ethernet port labeled LAN1 or UPLINK. Through this port, the gateway is expected to reach the internet. Note that, the gateway also has an antenna port for 3G. By default, 3G is disabled but this can be enabled to provide (limited) internet access when cabled internet is not available. For this, please contact our enterprise support at enterprise@pozyx.io.
  • The anchor network is used to connect the anchors to the gateway. The ethernet ports labeled ANCHOR NETWORK on the gateway are internally all connected and are used for the anchor network. It is strongly recommended that only anchors (and network switches) are connected to this network.

We will now configure the gateway and (optionally) connect it to the cloud:

  1. Plug in the 12V power adapter of the gateway and turn the gateway on.
  2. Connect the gateway to your local network by plugging in an ethernet cable in the uplink network port (labeled LAN1 or UPLINK).
  3. Connect your computer to the anchor network by plugging in an ethernet cable in an anchor network port (labeled ANCHOR NETWORK).
  4. Open your browser and go to This will open the Pozyx web application running locally on your gateway. Note that it may take a few minutes for the gateway to start up before the application is available.
  5. Go to DevicesGatewayInfo and scroll down to the Uplink network section to find the details about the uplink network interface.
By default, the gateway is configured to dynamically obtain an IP address (configured as DHCP client). Please make note of the Local IP address of the uplink network.
If your home or company network utilizes static IP's, you can configure the gateway’s IP by clicking Edit uplink network configuration.

If your gateway is connected to your local network and internet connectivity is available, the gateway should automatically connect to the Pozyx cloud. For a proper operation of the Pozyx system from the cloud, make sure that the correct TCP ports are opened if you are using a firewall. The
Gateway: Info page in the web application will highlight the required ports in green if they are accessible, or in red otherwise. The following ports are used:

    Port numberTypeDirectionPurpose
80, 443TCPOUTHTTP(S). Enables usage of the Pozyx web application in the cloud.
123TCP/UDPIN/OUTNTP. Enables optional network system time synchronization.
1194TCP/UDPIN/OUTOpenVPN. Enables remote support by Pozyx experts.
    53TCP/UDPIN/OUTDNS. Required.
  6. Once you have the Local IP of your gateway you can disconnect your computer from the anchor network. Regardless of whether you have access to the Pozyx cloud or not.

It is recommended to not use the anchor network to access the setup application once installed as this may affect system stability.

  7. From now on, you can access the Pozyx web application in two ways:

    • Locally1: By connecting your computer to your local network (the network attached to the gateway’s uplink network port) and surfing to the Local IP address of the gateway.

    • From the cloud: By going to https://app.pozyx.io. Here you can create an account (or use an existing one) and link your gateway to your account. For this, you will be asked for the gateway ID that is printed on the gateway. See the instructions in Chapter 2.1 – Quick gateway setup for more info on this.
This option will only work if your gateway has gained access to the Pozyx cloud (see step 5).

1 Note that, locally, some features of the web application are not available such as the setup validation, the planning tool, or user management to give multiple people access to the setup application. In contrast to the cloud-based web application, your local web application is also not automatically updated, but only when you update your gateway’s software. This means that the cloud-based web application may have a different and newer version than your local one.
